How we check sources

What LimitWatch actually does to collect and update plan limits.

Where the numbers come from

Every plan price and limit on this site comes from the vendor's own public pricing or documentation page. Each number links to the page it came from, with the date it was last checked. The pages we track:

We also re-check the source page of each changelog entry.

The nightly check

The check runs once a day at about 3 AM ET as a scheduled job.

  1. A script fetches every source page above and strips out scripts, styles and markup, keeping only the visible text.
  2. It saves that text as a dated snapshot and compares it with the previous snapshot of the same page. Lines that only moved around are ignored.
  3. If the text changed, it saves the diff and records the page and the time it was detected as a raw change awaiting review. These raw detections appear on Today.
  4. The site is then rebuilt from our data files.

Review before anything changes

A detected page change does not update any number on its own. Each diff is reviewed against the live vendor page, and only after that review are the plan data or the changelog updated. Each changelog entry keeps the time the change was first detected, and when the vendor states a date, how long after that date we caught it.

Vendor wording and the "vague" tag

Limits are quoted in the vendor's own words rather than paraphrased. When a vendor publishes a hard number, we show it under "Numbers". When a vendor gives no hard number, the plan is marked vague and we show only their wording.

The plan picker on the home page is our own rough guide for choosing among plans that fit your budget, not a vendor promise.

Independence

LimitWatch is not affiliated with any vendor.
